'Sacred Wounds' speaks into the parts of our lives that we think disqualify us. The shameful, wounded, and broken pieces of our stories that we hide away from God because we think they make us unforgiveable, unlovable, and unredeemable. But the good news is that Jesus disagrees.
Each part of our stories - even the messy, ugly, and broken parts - are sacred to Him

"After seven and a half years of devastating illness, I felt like I was in the Valley of Dry Bones in Ezekiel 37.
It was as if my heart was a dry, parched, hopeless valley filled to the brim with bones of pain, anger, confusion, hurt, and doubt.
How vast and dry they were!
But believing the Lord could only love me if I was joyful and happy, I shoved them down into this single, contained valley for years.
So when Jesus invited me to walk among these burdened hills of my heart with Him, I was terrified. What will He do when He sees the hidden parts of me - when He really knows me?

But as I watched Jesus remove His sandals - like Moses did when standing on holy ground - preparing to step onto the holy ground of my own sufferings, I knew I didn't have to be afraid. I knew Jesus wasn't here to condemn me, but rather to unburden me and re-sow the land of my heart.

This book is a series of conversations I had with Jesus in my valley of dry bones. Hand in hand, I walked among the depths of my wounds with Love Himself, soon discovering that this was the most gracious invitation I could ever receive."

Meet my coauthor!
When I was ill and couldn't drive, I first got to know Cristina when she gave me a ride to a wedding. It was right around the time I'd begun writing "Sacred Wounds," and I knew I needed someone to help me edit and refine my work.
Shortly after the wedding, the Lord put it on my heart to reach out to Cristina.
All I really knew was that she loved Jesus, she was a writer and editor, and she knew how to drive. And yet, the Lord knew what He was about! We met for coffee soon afterward, and Cristina and I agreed to take on this project together.

We spent the next 4 years writing and editing. Cristina's impact on this book and the stories it contains was so immense, that she easily moved from editor to coauthor.

I am deeply grateful for Cristina and the heart she put into this book - it would not be the same without her!
